There are a number of recreational alumni sports currently underway or planned for the near future. If you'd like to be included on the alumni rec sports mailing list please email Matt Englander at mkenglandergmail.com. You'll have the opportunity to play basketball, indoor soccer, dodgeball, and a number of other sports with fellow alums. Whether you're a Boston native or new to the area, there's no better way to get to know your fellow Wolverine alums than by playing rec sports. All ability levels are welcome. Email Matt today!

ALUMNI 2008 SUMMER SOFTBALL ENDS ON A LOW NOTE, TEAMS LOOKS TO RE-LOAD FOR 2008 FALL SEASON

The 2008 Alumni Summer Softball teams, the weeknight squad and the Sunday squad, both saw their seasons end last week. The weeknight team limped to a 6-6 finish and were left out of the postseason due to a complicated tiebreaker for the final playoff spot. It marks the first time that this squad failed to reach the postseason. The Sunday squad fared better in the regular season with an impressive 9-3 record, but fell in the first round of the playoffs in heart-breaking fashion.

ALUMNI DODGEBALL/KICKBALL CANCELED FOR SUNDAY APRIL 6

Dodgeball/kickball, originally scheduled for Sunday April 6 from 7-9pm at the Winter Hill School in Somerville, has been canceled due to lack of participation.

Alumni pickup hoops from 5-7pm on Sunday April 6 at the Winter Hill School is still on as scheduled.

ALUMNI PICK-UP BASKETBALL RETURNS FOR THE 2007-2008 SEASON

Boston-area Michigan alums are once again invited to participate in alumni pick-up basketball at the Winter Hill School in Somerville. Alumni hoops Sundays will start on November 18th from 5pm to 6:30pm and continue on December 2, 9, and 16 to finish out the year. The schedule for 2008 will be released soon. UPDATE: Alumni hoops will return on March 30, April 6, April 13, and April 20. Hoopsters can play from 5 to 7pm, after which time the floor is open to alums who wish to play dodgeball or kickball.

INTERESTED IN PLAYING RECREATIONAL SPORTS WITH MICHIGAN ALUMS?

The University of Michigan Club of Greater Boston (UMCGB) organizes a number of sports for Boston-area Michigan alums of any and all talent levels. In Fall 2006, alums played on a Big Ten softball team organized by the UMCGB. The Club is currently organizing the team for play in Summer 2007. Currently, Michigan alums can participate in pick-up basketball on Sundays in Somerville. Additionally, an indoor soccer team is being organized for play in March 2007.

Interested in a sport that the club doesn't currently offer? If there's a recreational sport you'd like to play, chances are that there is a league in the Boston-area offering it.
