Mailings
The Alumni club communicates with members and friends via many (too many?) email lists and printed newsletters. The many mailings (and occasional overlaps) are partially because the Alumni Association is independent from the University itself. Here are quick descriptions of source, frequency, and unsubscribe information.
- umcgb-all
Our local club's list of members and friends. We send email to this list every Tuesday to promote upcoming events. We also use this list for last minute reminders of our events. You may subscribe to (or unsubscribe from) the list here.
- e-TrueBlue
The Alumni Association of the University of Michigan sends e-TrueBlue email to alumni of the U-M on the fourth Monday of every month (non-members) or every Friday (members). e-TrueBlue contains Michigan News, Association News, and stories about Arts/Culture, Research, Science/Health, and Athletics at the University. On the last Friday of each month, the members' e-TrueBlue will also contain region-specific content promoting events and programs by local alumni clubs.
List membership is based on your information on file with the Alumni Association in Ann Arbor. Or, you can subscribe here. If you prefer not to receive it, please send an email to MAlumni
umich.edu with a subject of REMOVE ETRUEBLUE. If you would prefer to receive the text-only version of this newsletter, send email to MAlumni
umich.edu.
- Alumnus
The Alumnus magazine is mailed quarterly by the Alumni Association. It contains (surprise!) "news about alumni, research at the University, campus news and Association programs and services."
- Michigan Today News-e
This email is sent monthly to alumni and friends by the U-M News Service. It contains campus news and recent research highlights. It augments the thrice-a-year print version of Michigan Today that is mailed to your home.
- Michigan Today
This physical mailing is sent three times a year to alumni and friends by the U-M News Service. It contains campus news and recent research highlights.
According to the editor, "the print version provides some news, but mainly offers longer and (we hope) more thoughtful features, profiles, and essays."
You may also receive certain mailings from a school or department to which you have made a donation or the
school or department from which you received your diploma. For example, I receive a magazine from the Music School, the Engineering School, the EECS Department, and emails from EECS Alumni Society.
inCircle
inCircle is an online directory and networking community that contains all University of Michigan alumni. It offers all the basic functions of an online directory (the ability to search for friends and colleagues) plus the ability to create your own personal network. It's just like a Michigan version of Facebook or MySpace! This service is free to all University of Michigan alumni:
